A division of Johnson and Johnson in New Jersey had an outdated Datacenter that was experiencing traffic congestion, space problems, and sporadic outages all of which were severely hampering their productivity.
RBC Cable's solution saved J&J from having to build additional facilities to house the new equipment and decreased maintenance costs ... not to mention the increased productivity of staff due to high speed data services and the network's availability.
The building office network and Datacenter had originally been wired using 802.2 co-axial Ethernet cabling and bridging hubs ... it was definitely time for an upgrade. Working with their local IT department, we developed a design and physical layout to upgrade the cabling, connection equipment, and physical plant (air conditioning, raised floors, and fire suppression). The plan called for a structured cabling 100BaseT CAT5e compliant network from Siemon throughout the building ... connected using Ethernet switches from CISCO.
We performed the installation in a little over three months without disrupting the Datacenter's operations and availability. While performing a weekend conversion, we uncovered a problem with their server's high-availability failover design. Working through the weekend, our engineers debugged the cause of their problem, implemented a solution, and completed the cutover to stay on schedule without incurring any Impacted User Minutes.
